10 Steps in 30 days: Easy Steps for Living a Healthier Life

Krista Hawkins

We are officially through the first month of the year. The hype of New Year’s resolutions is over, and you may find yourself seeking motivation and encouragement on living a healthier, more fulfilling life. That’s where we come in.

Encouraging you to take action on living your best life, we’ve put together 10 steps you can take in the next 30 days that will set you up for success in healthier living:

  1. Schedule a wellness check. If you don’t have a primary care physician, find one. Your life and health are very important, so don’t gamble. Get yourself checked out.

  2. Eat at least one vegetable AND fruit with every meal. This one might seem tough, yet we are supposed to take in 7-13 servings each day (a serving is the size of your fist). Plan your meals in advance to avoid the lure of grab-and-go fast food.

  3. Give up soft drinks. Some of you are probably thinking, “Gasp! What will I do without my diet coke!” but trust me, you will feel so much better after 30 days of clean drinking. And, if you need inspiration, read the label of a diet drink and look up what the ingredients do once they are inside the body. YIKES!

  4. Brush and floss your teeth every night before bed. According to this US News article, only 30 percent of the population floss daily. Doing so will help prevent bad breath, cavities, and gum disease.

  5. Drink lots of water. Challenge yourself to drink half your body weight in ounces each day.

  6. Get your eyes checked. Your eyes are a window to your overall health. During a comprehensive eye exam, your eye doctor can observe and evaluate the health of the blood vessels in your retina, which is a good predictor of the health of blood vessels throughout your body.

  7. Take a CPR or First Aid Class. The Red Cross offers several classes to choose from. Click here to find one near you.

  8. Take the stairs. Kiss the elevator goodbye and get your walk on! Taking the stairs burns more calories per minute than jogging, and helps control weight and muscle tone.

  9. Change your air filters. Filters in your home and car can breed some nasty allergens. Stay fresh by changing them out.

  10. Wash your hands regularly. People touch their eyes, nose, and mouth without even realizing it. Germs can get into the body through the eyes, nose and mouth and make us sick. Nobody wants that.

At Future Legacy Wellness, we want to help you live abundantly by growing confidence in healthy living. If you need encouragement to live a healthier and more fulfilling life, contact us.

Wishing you success,
